Castlevania: Symphony of the Night strategies

Game Shark | Dex Drive

There's plenty more secrets and important items than what I put in here, but this is just the bigger stuff off the top of my head, and I don't even own the game. The blanks and locations I can't remember will be filled in at a later date.

Librarian's chair

Once you have the Gravity Boots and the Jump Pendant relics, go directly to the library. The earlier you do this trick, the more helpful it is. Make your way to the room directly under the librarian. At the top of the screen is a hole leading straight up to the librarian's chair. If you do a double jump (X twice) you can super jump infinitely. Start off by double jumping and then super jump (down, up+X) into his chair. Now, let the librarian's chair land, but do another super jump before you hit the ground. If you do this continually, you will eventually get a max life up, the ring of arcana, the axelord armor and the dracula tunic.

Holy Glasses and the endings

To get the Holy Glasses, you have to go through an awful lot of trouble, but you cannot truly beat the game without them. First, (1)you must have the Soul of Bat to transform into the bat. Second, (2)you must have Echo of Bat to see in dark places by pressing triangle. (3)Then, go to the (can't remember) and find the dark room lined with spikes. Go into bat form and make your way to the end, using the echo. Land on the lighted pad to turn the lights back on. Then, run around the hallways past that until you find the room containing "Spike Breaker" armor. (4)Now, make sure you have the Soul of Mist and go to the long hallway on the upper-left of the castle. Equip the spike breaker armor and run through the hallway lined with spikes. Mist through a grate and continue through a door. Maria is in here and she talks about Richter then runs out. On the far side of the room is a ring, take it. (5)Now, I'm not sure where it is, but there's a "save room" with a black and purple save ball. Use this and Alucard will go into "Nightmare". Defeat the Succubus and take the other ring. (6)Now, go to the clock room and equip both rings. The floor will open up and you will have access to the Holy Glasses. (7)Equip these when you fight Richter and you will see a green ball floating above his head. Destroy it instead of him and you will discover the Dark Priest Shaft. This reveals the same castle...only upside-down! When you reach the clock room in the other castle, equip the rings again to open the same section in the floor to find Shaft, and after him, Dracula. Of course, make sure your levels are high enough, because the bosses you fought before are NORMAL enemies in this castle.

Endings

1. Beat Richter
2. Equip Holy Glasses and beat Richter anyway
3. Defeat Shaft and Dracula with less than 200% complete
4. Defeat Shaft and Dracula with 200%
